Provide a complete HR service throughout the employee life cycle, to include advice, guidance and support to line managers on their decision making in respect of the application of all aspects of the employment relationship.

Support the development of managerial capability to handle difficult, complex and sensitive people issues, rather than handling situations for them (for example through coaching and helping them to understand the implications of their behaviours/decisions on staff and on the organisation).

Provide a complete people services support function ensuring consistency and appropriate application of policies including (but not restricted to) the following areas:

� Handling grievance, bullying and related matters for all occupational groups

� Management and control of the establishment

� Dispute resolution relating to staff conditions of service and employee matters

� Providing guidance, advice and support to line Managers on complex attendance grievance and performance related cases

� Processing cases and/or applications for ill-health retirement

� Dealing with unsatisfactory performance, efficiency and capability procedures for all occupational groups

� Advise and support managers in developing and delivery of change programmes and other initiatives eg changes to terms and conditions of employment, changes to shift patterns etc

� Advise and coach managers in aspects of employee engagement health and wellbeing matters.

� Advise managers in all aspects of recruitment.

Establish and maintain strong links with the Advisory Service within the collaborative MFSS to ensure calls are escalated at the correct point and that hand offs are clean and that their capability is maximised for informal advice.

Support the development and timely implementation of efficient and effective HR solutions for people issues, including the delivery of one off HR programmes or projects.

Ensure internal policies and legislative requirements are followed appropriately. Provide specialist guidance and advice to managers and keep appropriate records. Attend formal meetings where there may be an impact on the employment contract.

Provide accurate management information to support the delivery against service level agreements, key performance indicators and other projects and plans, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times in line with the Data Protection Act, other legislation and best practice.

Research, identify and promote the use of HR best practice to resolve people issues, and develop capability and capacity across the organisation, ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements.

Ensure that the force values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered by officers, staff and managers in their decision making and actions; reinforcing and influencing them through all interactions and processes.

Support the people services values by treating 'Everybody' both internally within People Services and in the wider Nottinghamshire Police family as an Adult, a Customer and a Human being ('EACH') and adopting a culture of collaboration and team working within People Services.

To participate in the force PDR process and take personal responsibility for identifying your own professional and career development needs. Maintain continuing professional development to ensure that the Force remains aware of statutory obligations and good practice and that you offer professional, up to date views, opinions and advice that are contextually based.
